Millville council says sewer district is dead By
Meghan Dinger MILLVILLE -- The City Council unanimously approved a motion to not consider the Special Sewer District any further, and vote "no" on the proposal, at its Thursday meeting. The sewer district as proposed by a group of residents at the last council meeting would have allowed a small area of Millville to build a sewer system. A proposal for a sewer system that would include the entire city was turned down at the ballot box last fall by citizens. "I feel the community made it very clear when they voted the last time, and I really don't support the special sewer district," Mayor Gale Hall said. "The last time they voted, they declined it and I feel that the voice of the community spoke." Councilor Jamie Skeen said by even considering this proposal, the council was sending a message that the citizen votes do not matter. "It was voted on once by the people, and they said no," Councilman Gene Eggleston said. The motion to decline the proposal was made by Skeen, and seconded by Councilman Mike Johnson. In other business, the council agreed to discuss a proposal for a new community center and approved a business license for Marc Edminster.
