Softball team drops three games to Long Beach State By
USU athletic media relations
Despite a close hitting contest, the USU softball team fell to Long Beach State, 6-1, Sunday at LaRae and LeGrand Johnson Field in Logan in the final of a three-game series. The Aggies' 0-3 performance against LBSU drops them to 5-23 on the year and 1-5 in the Big West Conference. "People play differently when they are ahead than when they are behind, and we just don't know what it's like to be ahead right now," said head coach Pam McCreesh. "We had runners on second and third several times with no outs, and we didn't score when we need to. We need to do a better job." USU's one run came in the fourth inning when sophomore third baseman Stephanie Vasarhely doubled to center field, advanced to third on a single by junior catcher Breanne Nickle, and scored on a single to right field by freshman outfielder Shannon Acevedo. The Aggies' lead didn't last long, as Long Beach scored four runs in the fifth inning and added a single run in each of the next two innings. USU will be back in action Wednesday when it plays instate rival Utah at 3 p.m. at Ute Field
