Logan man sentenced for drug possession

By Ann Passey

November 16, 2004 | LOGAN -- Luke Hannock Anderson of Logan, 24, pleaded guilty to two 3rd-degree felonies Monday morning in 1st District Court.

Anderson was initially charged with 1st- and 3rd-degree felonies. Both charges were for illegal possession of controlled substances. He was also charged with a class A misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anderson agreed to a plea bargain and the charges were reduced. The 1st-degree felony charge was reduced to a 3rd-degree felony, and the misdemeanor charge was dropped.

Anderson's attorney, James Bond, asked the judge to proceed with sentencing during the hearing.

Judge Clint S. Judkins sentenced Anderson to no more than five years in prison for each count. The terms may be served simultaneously, and the time he has been serving since Aug. 11 may be credited to reduce the time he has left to serve.

Anderson was arrested Aug. 11 for a parole violation and was found with illegal substances and paraphernalia on him. He has been in the Cache County Jail since the time of his arrest.
